House System
At St Peter and St Paul Catholic Primary Academy, our House system helps our children to experience what it means to belong to one school family and to live out our mission:
“With Jesus at the heart, we learn, love and serve.”
Every child belongs to one of our four Houses, each named after a saint whose life provides an example of faith, courage and service. Through learning about their House saint, pupils discover that there are many different ways in which we can respond to God’s call and use our gifts for others.
Our Houses bring together children from across the school, developing a strong sense of belonging, participation and shared responsibility. They provide opportunities for pupils to encourage one another, contribute to school life and put our values of Love, Respect and Service into action.
St Peter
Faith • Courage • Leadership
St Peter was one of Jesus’ closest friends and the leader of the Apostles. Although Peter sometimes made mistakes and experienced moments of doubt and fear, his love for Jesus gave him the courage to continue growing in faith.
Jesus entrusted Peter with a special responsibility to care for his Church. His life reminds us that we can learn from our mistakes, remain faithful when things are difficult and use our gifts to lead and serve others.
St Peter inspires us to have courage, grow in faith and serve others.
St Paul House
Transformation • Courage • Mission
St Paul dedicated his life to sharing the Good News of Jesus. His encounter with the Risen Christ transformed his life and taught him that everyone can change, grow and respond to God’s call.
Paul travelled widely, establishing Christian communities and encouraging others in their faith despite facing considerable difficulties himself.
St Paul inspires us to learn, grow and courageously share God’s love with others.
St Thérèse House
Love • Kindness • Service
St Thérèse of Lisieux showed that we do not always need to do extraordinary things to make a difference. Her “Little Way” teaches us that small acts carried out with great love can transform the lives of others.
Her example helps our pupils recognise that everyday acts of kindness, patience and generosity are important ways of living our faith.
St Thérèse inspires us to show great love through the small things we do each day.
St Bernadette House
Humility • Faith • Prayer
St Bernadette of Lourdes was a young girl of deep faith and humility. Through her encounters with Our Lady at Lourdes, she remained prayerful and faithful even when others doubted her.
Her life reminds us of the importance of listening to God, remaining humble and treating others with kindness and dignity.
St Bernadette inspires us to be humble, prayerful and faithful.
Living Our Mission Through Our Houses
Our House system is about much more than collecting points or winning competitions. It provides another way for our children to belong, participate, lead and serve.
Through House activities, celebrations, competitions and opportunities for leadership, pupils are encouraged to recognise the gifts of others, contribute their own talents and work together for the Common Good.
Our four House saints had different gifts and different journeys of faith, just as our children do. Together, they remind us of St Paul’s words:
“We have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us.”
Romans 12:6
Whatever our House, we belong to one school family. Inspired by the saints and with Jesus at the heart, we encourage every child to use their gifts to learn, love and serve.
